炼钢生铁，是专供炼钢用的生铁。一般含硅量较低（不大于1.75%），含硫 较高（小于0.07%），是平炉、转炉炼钢的主要原料，占生铁产量的80—90%。其特点是脆而硬，因为其中铁和碳处于化合状态，断口呈白色，所以也叫“白口铁”。
