以溶解状态存在于原油或水中的天然气。任一油藏的原油,总是溶有数量不等的天然气。每吨油中溶解气的量,少则几立方米、几十立方米,多者可达数百、乃至数千立方米。地下水中溶解气,有低压水溶气和高压地热型水溶气。前者含量少,每吨水中溶解几立方米;后者含量很高,每吨水中可溶解数十至数百立方米,具有开采价值。溶解量取决于天然气及溶剂的成分、气体的压力,它们之间的关系符合亨利公式(Henry's Law)Q=α·P。式中Q为溶解量,α为溶解系数,P为气体压力。天然气在水中的溶解度还取决于水的温度和含盐度。
