普通消色差透镜是指将三种波长（蓝光、绿光、和红光）的光线的色差进行校正的透镜组。 因会聚透镜所会聚的光线蓝色像焦点近，而凹透镜对蓝色光发散率高，二镜色差正负相反，可使红、蓝两色像重合为一，基本消除色差。新月形表面可限制球面像差和彗形像差。但存有象散和畸变。早期多用于拍摄风景，故名风景透镜。 外形为新月形(凹凸)，由两块折射率、色散率不同的透镜胶合而成。最早由卡威兰于1821年制成(平凹与双凸透镜粘合);后由格拉必于1857年改进(新月形)。此后又出现多层粘合的消色差透镜。
