涂料印花是采用热固型或热塑型合成树脂作粘合剂，与不溶的颜料混在一起,组成涂料印花色浆,用机械或手工方法涂在织物表面上,经干燥烘焙后形成一层薄膜,使颜料紧密盖在纤维上,以达到印花着色的目的。涂料印花浆商品一般是由颜料浆、粘合剂、光联剂及乳化浆组成，使用时混合即可。
