洋盆（Ocean basin）是在海洋的底部有许多低平的地带，周围是相对高一些的海底山脉，这种类似陆地上盆地的构造叫做海盆或者海洋盆地。它是大洋底的主体部分。例如波斯湾盆地、东海盆地、珠江口盆地等等。
欧洲学者S认为海陆是通过激烈的地壳运动形成的，经过一大堆复杂的过程，最后冷却，大陆成了洋盆(ocean basin)，海洋成了大陆。美国学者A则认为海陆的形成没有经过如此剧烈的变化，他认为不同质的冷却过程造成了海陆的差异。
