河漫滩（flood plain）是河流洪水期淹没的河床以外的谷底部分。它由河流的横向迁移和洪水漫堤的沉积作用形成。平原区的河漫滩比较发育。由于横向环流作用，V字形河谷展宽，冲积物组成浅滩，浅滩加宽，枯水期大片露出水面成为雏形河漫滩。之后洪水携带的物质不断沉积，形成河漫滩。
