水体农业又称水农业。利用水面经营农业。是按照生态学原理并利用现代技术手段，在以湖泊为主的水域空间，将传统渔业和农业生产有机结合，提高整个湖体的光能利用率。实行以湖养湖，以种植业促养殖业，渔农并茂，多种经营，使水体生产农牧化。这是浅水湖泊综合利用的主要形式。水生植物是水体农牧结合的桥梁，起纽带、能量转化及净化器作用。发展水生植物可为鱼、虾、贝类提供产卵、洄游和栖息场所；为渔、副、农诸业提供饵料、饲料和肥料；并能增加水体营养、净化水质，改善湖泊生态环境，提高其生产力与资源经济效益。
