气密性试验是指为防止压力容器发生泄漏而进行的以气体为加压介质的致密性试验的一种。这是对那些内盛介质毒性程度为极度、高度危害或设计上不允许有微量泄漏的压力容器，必须进行气密性试验。气密性试验必须在液压试验合格才能进行。已作气压试验合格的容器一般可免做气密性试验，或按设计图纸的规定。气密性试验所用气体同气压试验的要求。
