残余变形，又称不可恢复变形，是指已经进入塑性阶段的材料在卸载至初始状态后，其变形不能回到初始状态，而存在的一部分无法恢复的变形。在低碳钢拉伸的应力-应变曲线中，当试验加载到d点后卸载至d'点时，正截面上的应力变为0而应变不为0，此时od'即为加载试验后低碳钢的残余应变，进而可求得低碳钢的残余变形。
