椭圆型ellipse cut：以外形轮廓来命名的琢型。具有这种外形轮廓的宝石琢型，可以有多种不同的类型，它可以是翻面型的某种，如椭圆玫瑰型、椭圆光辉型等但具有椭圆轮廓的弧面型，则不称椭圆弧面型，而称“蛋面型”或“蛋弧型”。又，若直称“椭圆型”则多指“椭圆光辉型”。
