枝晶偏析指固溶体晶粒内部化学成分的不均匀现象。在快冷条件下,液态合金按树枝状方式结晶时,由于原子在固相中扩散均匀的过程进行的很慢,致使先析出枝晶与后析出的枝晶处出现间隙,最后获得化学成分不均匀的枝晶。 先形成枝晶的含有较合金平均成分为多的高熔点组元,而随后在枝晶间隙处部分含有较合金为多的低熔点组元。
