景观生态规划(Landscape ecology Planning)是一项系统工程，它根据景观生态学的原理及其它相关学科的知识，以区域景观生态系统整体格局优化为基本目标，通过研究景观格局与生态过程以及人类活动与景观的相互作用，建立区域景观生态系统优化利用的空间结构和模式，从而使廊道、斑块、基质等景观要素的数量及其空间分布合理，使信息流、物质流与能量流畅通，并具有一定的美学价值，且适于人类居住。 城市景观生态设计则是该理论的的应用，更多地从具体的工程或适用的生态技术构建景观生态系统。
