常绿乔木，树皮浅裂；冬芽富有树脂。针叶3针一束，长15－25厘米。球果卵圆形，长5－9厘米，成熟后种鳞不张开，常宿存树上多年；种鳞的鳞钝隆起或微隆起，鳞脐微凸起，先端有短刺尖。
