时隙交换 是一种异步时分信号，其交换叫做异步时分交换，拨号信号有“音频”（DTMF）和“脉冲”（PULSE）两种。 在数字程控交换机中，来自不同用户或模拟中继线的话音信号首先被转换为数字信号，并被复用到不同的PCM复用线上，然后接入内部数字交换网络。为实现不同用户之间的通话，数字交换网络必须完成不同复用线之间不同时隙的交换，即数字交换网络某条输入复用线上某时隙的内容交换到指定输出复用线上的指定时隙。
