旱稻又叫陆稻。由水稻在无水层的旱地条件下长期驯化演变形成的一个生态型作物。适应在旱地栽培,也能在水田或洼地种植,主要分布在夏季雨水稳定但缺乏灌溉条件的旱地、山坡地,或春旱而夏秋易涝的低洼地区。我国南北水稻区都有少量栽培。陆稻的茎、叶粗壮繁茂,叶片较宽,色淡,根系发达,根毛多,根的渗透压和叶片的细胞汁浓度较高,耐早、耐热,吸水力强。产量一般低于水稻,出米率低,米质亦较次。
