开松就是把大的纤维团、块扯散成小块、小束的过程。开松使纤维横向联系的规模缩小，为以后进一步松解到单根状态创造条件。从广义上说,麻皮的脱胶也是种开松。开松通过两种手段:打松和扯松。打松利用自由状态下的拍打,产生振荡，使纤维块松散，如拍打羽绒服可使其蓬松。扯松利用握持状态下的分扯，使大块变小。
该机是将原料及回料进行混合开松由风机输送至下道工序。
