崇文区，曾是北京市四个中心城区之一，坐落在天安门广场东南侧。东部与朝阳区搭界，南部与丰台区相交，西部与宣武区毗邻，北部与东城区接壤。平均海拔35米，面积16.46平方公里，辖前门、崇文门外、东花市、天坛、体育馆路、龙潭、永定门外7个街道，237个居委会，人口43万，是北京市最小的一个市辖区。 2010年7月1日19时38分，崇文区正式撤销，与东城区合并；自此，崇文区便成为历史。（概述图片来源 ）
