岩石变形（deformation of rock）岩石在外力或其他物理因素（如温度、湿度）作用下发生形状或体积的变化。不仅小的岩块，就是整个地壳岩体在力的作用下也会不断变形，地壳目前的蠕变速率一般为10-16/秒，西藏高原和喜马拉雅山以每年几厘米的速率上升。地壳变形急剧的地方会产生断层、褶皱等。工程岩体往往因为变形过大，导致失稳。因此岩石变形特性是岩石力学研究的重要内容之一。研究的重点是岩石的应力－应变－时间关系。中国学者在岩石变形，尤其是岩石流变研究方面起步较早，占有重要地位。
