尼龙(Nylon)纤维学名为聚酰胺(polyamide)纤维﹐其原为杜邦公司所生产之聚己二酰己二胺之商品名﹐即一般通称为尼龙六六(Nylon 66)。聚酰胺纤维是第一个合成高分子聚合物商业化之合成纤维制品﹐其为在1937年由美国杜邦公司卡罗瑟斯(Caarothers)研究发明聚六甲基己二酰胺(即尼龙六六酰)﹐因而开启了合成纤维的第一页﹐其至今仍是聚酰胺纤维的代表。
