对苯二甲酸，又称p-苯二甲酸，是产量最大的二元羧酸，主要由对二甲苯制得，是生产聚酯的主要原料。常温下为固体。加热不熔化，300℃以上升华。若在密闭容器中加热，可于425℃熔化。常温下难溶于水。主要用于制造合成聚酯树脂、合成纤维和增塑剂等。
