宜林地林业用地的一个类别。指适合于种植林木的土地。凡采伐迹地、火烧迹地、林中空地以及林木生长的一切荒山荒地,统称宜林地。 通常包括采伐迹地、火烧迹地、林中空地等无林地和不利于农作物种植，而宜于林木生长发育的一切荒山荒地，以及乡村中大量的“四旁”地（即村旁、宅旁、路旁、水旁）和城市中适于植树造林绿化的空隙地等。在中国林业用地中，按第五个五年计划期间（1975～1980年）全国森林资源调查统计，约有1亿多公顷的无林地，其中宜林荒山荒地为8000多万公顷，待更新的采伐迹地66.7万多公顷。
