中国古代官名。宗伯又称禋宗、秩宗（《书·舜典》）、祝宗，轩辕黄帝首置，之后帝禹建立夏朝承置，位次三公，为六卿之一，排名第三，掌邦礼。《周礼》谓为春官，设大宗伯，卿一人，以小宗伯为副，所属有太史、大卜、肆师、大司乐、大祝、大吏等官。辅佐天子掌管宗室礼仪之事，掌对天神祖先的祭礼，并掌宗庙中和宗族内各种礼仪。西周时称为大宗。
