宋元话本，是宋元时代说话人演讲故事所用的底本。包括小说﹑讲史﹑说经等说话艺人的底本﹐但诸宫调﹑影戏﹑傀儡戏的脚本也可以称作话本﹐还有人把明清人摹拟小说话本而写的短篇白话小说统称为话本。
