飞机刚进入失速的速度，称为失速速度，用Vs表示。失速的产生取决于飞机的迎角是否超过临界迎角，而在飞行状态一定及载荷因数一定时，速度与迎角有一定的关系：当飞机的速度接近失速速度时，飞机的迎角接近临界迎角；飞机的速度为失速速度时，飞机的迎角为临界迎角。因此，可以根据飞机的迎角大小来判断飞机是否接近失速或已经失速。
