天然高分子（natural polymers）是指以由重复单元连接成的线型长链为基本结构的高分子量化合物，是存在于动物、植物及生物体内的高分子物质。天然高分子化合物可以分为：多肽、蛋白质、酶等；多聚磷酸酯、核糖核酸、脱氧核糖核酸等；多糖如淀粉、肝糖、菊粉、纤维素、甲壳素等；橡胶类如巴西橡胶、杜仲胶等；树脂类如阿拉伯树脂、琼脂、褐藻胶等。 自然界动植物（包括人类在内）的组成中，高分子占主要成分。生物的物质基础是各种高分子化合物与一些小分子的组合，生命现象是他们相互间的物理、化学现象。
