大威德金刚又称大威德怖畏金刚，是密宗本尊之一。密宗典籍中说：“有伏恶之势，谓之大威；有护善之功，谓之大德。”画面中央为拥妃大威德金刚像。深蓝色像为男性体，九头、三十四臂、十六腿。拥抱的浅蓝色像为明妃，双臂、双腿、单面。大威德是藏密无上瑜伽宝生部三本尊之一，也是藏传佛教格鲁派所修本尊之一。
