多基因遗传病指某种疾病的发生受两对以上等位基因的控制，它们的基本遗传规律也遵循孟德尔的遗传定律，但多基因遗传病除了决定于遗传因素之外，还受着环境等多种复杂因素的影响，故也称多因子病。基因遗传病是由多个基因控制的遗传因素与环境因素共同影响的疾病。在遗传因素中不是一个基因的作用，常涉及到多个基因，是多种基因作用累计的结果。因此多基因遗传病与单基因遗传病在遗传方式上有明显不同，它没有显性、隐性和性连锁遗传之分。
