《外国哲学》于1984年由商务印书馆创办，至1998年共出版十四辑，开创了改革开放后中国研究外国哲学的新学风、新传统，在学术界具有广泛的影响。经与商务印书馆商议，从第十五辑开始，北京大学外国哲学研究所负责承担《外国哲学》的组稿、编辑工作。
