基因多效性是指一个基因决定或影响多个性状的形成。在生物体的发育过程中,很多生化反应过程是相互联系、相互依赖的。基因的作用是通过控制和影响新陈代谢的一系列生化反应从而决定性状的形成。 由于生物体的各种性状和各种生理生化过程是相互联系相互制约的,基因的作用也必然是相互联系相互制约的。一种基因影响了这种性状,又会间接地影响其他性状。
