地热源，是指地球内部所蕴含的热能，认识地热的形成和分布规律涉及地球起源的各种学说。尽管对地热源源众说纷纭，但各种学说都认同岩石中放射性元素蜕变产生的热量是地热的主要来源，也就是说地球的热源绝大部分来自深部放射性同位素的蜕变。 从地球内部通过传导释放出地表的热量中，4/5是放射性同位素释放热，1/5是其他热源的总和。
