土壤粒级(soil separate)指按土壤中矿物质颗粒的粒径大小、矿物学组成和性质的差异,划分不同的等级。每一等级内,其大小、矿物质组成和性质基本相近,而等级间差异明显。由于矿物质颗粒大小和形状极其复杂,难于直接测出颗粒的真实粒径。为了便于研究和说明,人为地把土粒粒径看作为理想球体的直径,并非真实的粒径大小。故土壤学中所说的土粒的粒径,确切说叫做“当量粒径”。
