《国际货币基金协定》(Agreement of the international monetary fund)，1944年7月22日联合国货币金融会议通过，于1945年12月27日生效。该协定共31条，曾于1969年和1976年12月两次进行修改。根据该协定成立了国际货币基金组织，是国际货币体系的主要支柱。国际货币基金组织在1947年同联合国组织正式签订建立相互关系的协议，成为联合国的专门机构，但其经营和组织原则仍保持很大的独立性，不受联合国的约束。它既是各国政府间的官方机构，又具有企业经营性质，通过资金借贷收取利息、手续费等，用作业务开支所得利润为其收益。会员国的参加采取入股的方式，由董事会认定各国的认股份额，各会员国按所认股份出资，这个份额是确定各国取得贷款和投票权的依据。
