器泳是指携带呼吸器在水下潜泳的竞速潜水。器泳在现代竞速潜水项目中是较为复杂的一种泳势，运动员除带有眼镜、穿脚蹼外，还要双手握持压缩空气瓶、口含呼吸器。在整个游程中，运动员始终在水面下游进，器材不能露出水面。但在转身时，除面部不能露出水面外，身体其余部分和器材可以露出水面。器泳时，运动员采用的气瓶是钢制品或合金钢制品，内装压缩空气。禁止使用纯氧气。
