医疗体育，又称康复体育，运动医学一部分，是指病患者为了配合治愈某些疾病而进行的身体锻炼，是运用各种体育运动方法治疗创伤和疾病的学科。医疗体育的内容，即根据疾病性质相应采取的手段。一般采用动作轻缓、运动负荷较小的散步、慢跑、太极拳、气功、按摩、保健操等。为提高康复效果、缩短疗程而与药物治疗相结合，在医生指导下，按运动处方进行定量锻炼。医疗体育不仅治疗疾病，同时还能促进各种脏器机能的恢复，既对全身有积极影响，又对局部器官产生强有力的作用。医学界把用体育运动治病的方法称为体育疗法。
