北蒙，是盘庚迁殷之前，殷称北蒙。北蒙在黄河以北、河南省安阳市西北郊2公里处。废墟面积约24平方公里，以小屯村为中心，包括北面的洹河两岸地区，东西长6公里，南北宽4公里。北蒙已湮灭，主要靠考古学家去发掘、考证。已发现的最出名的一处遗址是北蒙，即殷墟，商朝曾在此建都273年之久。 《竹书纪年》：“盘庚，名旬。十四年自亳迁于北蒙，曰殷。十五年，营殷邑。十九年，命邠侯亚圉。二十八年，陟。”
