分步法是“产品成本计算分步法”的简称。是以产品生产步骤和产品品种为成本计算对象，来归集和分配生产费用、计算产品成本的一种方法。适用于连续、大量、多步骤生产的工业企业，如冶金、水泥、纺织、酿酒、砖瓦等企业。这些企业，从原材料投入到产品完工，要经过若干连续的生产步骤，除最后一个步骤生产的是产成品外，其他步骤生产的都是完工程度不同的半成品。这些半成品，除少数可能出售外，都是下一步骤加工的对象。因此，应按步骤、按产品品种设置产品成本明细帐，分别成本项目归集生产费用。
