凝血酶原是一种重要的凝血因子，和凝血因子Ⅱ、Ⅴ、Ⅶ、Ⅹ有关，均在肝细胞内合成。凝血酶原时间（PT）其正常值在12～14秒。肝病时肝细胞损害早期即可有PT延长。肝细胞损害越严重，PT延长越明显。凝血酶原时间是判断重型肝炎预后的一项重要指标。若PT延长值20秒，则预后不良。 凝血酶原活动度和凝血酶原时间的意义相同，且更能准确地反映凝血因子的活性。凝血酶原活动度（%）=（正常人凝血酶原时间-8.7）/（患者凝血酶原时间-8.7）×100%。
