减温减压器/装置，顾名思义，就是将高温高压蒸汽降为客户能够使用的低压低温蒸汽（可为过热蒸汽）。以锅炉过热器出口为例，锅炉产生蒸汽经过热器出口到汽轮机做功，汽轮机对于进入的蒸汽参数有个范围要求，如果过热器出口的蒸汽参数超出汽轮机所要求的高限，就会对汽轮机造成损坏。所以必须用减温减压器/减温减压装置将参数降到适用范围以内。
