现代空载雷达收发共用一付天线，往往以线极化方式工作，被远距离雷达照射时就成了特殊的雷达目标。对于无源、无耗、可逆的天线系统，根据互易原理, 只当照射波的极化和激励的孔径场分布与天线的固有极化和固有孔径场分布匹配，天线输入阻抗与负载也匹配时，天线孔径捕获的照射波能量才能全部被负载吸收。否则，将有部分或全部能量被天线散射或再辐射。将此统称为天线的再辐射。
