光敏作用（Photosensitization）也称为光动力作用、光力学作用。任一化学或生物学反应，在可见光照射下，必须有一敏化剂参与光吸收才能发生，并需要氧的参与。光动力作用物质称基质，它们都是蛋白质、酶与核酸等。 该反应首先须有受作用的物质，即基质。可以是正常或异常的结构中的一些主要生物物质，也可以是细胞代谢产物甚至氧化形成的毒性物质；主要是蛋白质、酶和核酸等生物大分子及其组成的氨基酸和碱基等。对光动力作用敏感的是蛋白质的侧链二硫键，而核酸内则以鸟嘌呤最敏感，氨基酸中则以芳香氨基酸敏感。可是氨基酸内只有色氨酸、酪氨酸、组氨酸、蛋氨酸及半胱氨酸等才是对光动力作用敏感的物质。
