储油船是指在海洋中开采石油时，用于储存原油的油船或油驳。常和单点系泊相连构成海上储油系统，定期向运油船装油，它可协调连续采油和批量运油间的不平衡。可专门设计建造，也可由旧油船或油驳改造而成。其储油部分用舱壁隔成若干储油舱室，以减小油舱晃动时原油对舱壁的水力冲击，增加油船的稳定性。油船的四周边舱常用作海水压舱室，通过注人或抽出海水调节向运油船(穿梭油船)装油时储油轮的平衡。
