佤族，中国、缅甸的少数民族之一，民族语言为佤语，属南亚语系孟高棉语族佤德语支，没有通用文字，人们用实物、木刻记事、计数或传递消息。 佤族主要居住在中国云南省西南部的沧源、西盟、孟连、耿马、澜沧、双江、镇康、永德等县和缅甸的佤邦、掸邦等地，中国境内还有一部分佤族散居在保山市、西双版纳傣族自治州、昆明市和德宏傣族景颇族自治州等地。 根据2010年第六次全国人口普查统计，中国境内的佤族总人口数为429709 人。
