人造金红石是指利用化学加工方法，将钛铁矿中的大部分铁成分分离出去所生产的一种在成分和结构性能与天然金红石相同的富钛原料。其TiOz含量视加工工艺的不同波动在91%～96%．是天然金红石的优质代用品，大量用于生产氯化法二氧化钛，也可用于生产四氯化钛、金属钛以及搪瓷制品和电焊条药皮，还可用于生产人造金红石黄颜料。
