所谓人体标本就是由真实的人体，经过一系列的化学处理后所制成的标本。过去用福尔马林浸泡的标本易变色、易变形，保存时间也不长。现在的标本都是塑化技术，这是上世纪70年代由德国人冈瑟·冯·海根斯发明的，中国于2000年引进。塑化保存的标本都是经过了脱水、脱脂，所以现在我们所看到的都是肌肉组织，看起来也就更匀称和美观，而经过这样一项技术，标本可以保存500年之久。
