事后维修是在设备发生故障后再进行修理的一种维修方式。这是最早形成的设备维修制度。由于事前不知道故障在什么时候发生，在什么零件上出现，因此缺乏修理前的准备，设备停工修理时间比较长。同时由于这种修理是无计划的，常常打乱生产计划，容易影响产品质量和交货期，给企业带来较大损失。它已为先进的维修制度所淘汰，但作为一种维修方式，对于任何突发故障都得采用。
