民国37年（1948）5月，临汾解放后，设临汾市、临汾县。市属晋绥边区第十二专区，县属晋南行政区。民国38年6月22日，市、县合并，称临汾县。 1950年1月9日，县改属临汾专区。1954年9月10日属晋南专区。1971年8月，分设临汾市、县，均属临汾地区。1983年10月，临汾县并入临汾市，到1998年仍属临汾地区。
这时的韩国定都在平阳，亦即如今的山西省临汾县，可见得他们所具有的地盘曾经比曩昔扩张了很多。
