中稀土是钐、铕、钆、铽和镝五种稀土元素的总称。除钷、钪以外，根据稀土矿物的形成特点，分离工艺上的要求，将其分为两组或三组。其中按萃取分离可分为： 轻稀土（P204弱酸度萃取）—镧、铈、镨、钕和钷； 中稀土（P204低酸度萃取）—钐、铕、钆、铽和镝； 重稀土（P204中酸度萃取）—钬、铕、铒、铥、镱、镥、钇和钪。
稀土离子常与ca2+共沉淀，所 以萤石是稀土元素的主要携带者之一，并富集中稀土（MREE）｜71。大江山铜矿 石富集轻稀土（LREE），呈明显的Eu正异常和Ce负异常，反映了其形成时海水 中稀土元素的行为I酗。
