1845年11月29日，清政府苏松太兵备道宫慕久与英国领事巴富尔共同公布《上海土地章程》（也有称《上海租地章程》），设立上海英租界。 上海英租界（1845年11月29日 ～ 1943年8月），从1845年11月设立开始，至1943年8月结束，历时近百年。在近代中国史上，上海的外国租界开辟最早，存在时间最长，面积最大。对中国近现代历史产生了深远的影响。
