The assistant curator at SF Moma, Erin O'Toole, believes that Winogrand's "shoot first, edit later" methodology will strike a chord with many modern photographers.
Despite his poor, almost non-existent, editing, Garry Winogrand left an immense body of work which is a startling account of America in the late 20th Century.
In its comments, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art wrote that in just the last three years, more than 80 artworks, which started out as fractional gifts, became completed gifts to the museum, including sculptures by Keith Haring, photographs by Garry Winogrand, prints by Sam Francis and etchings by David Hockney.
