The Midgard Serpent will writhe and rise from the ocean, disgorging its venom until all the sky and land is stained with its poison. Then Loki will lead the giants and monsters of the worlds against the gods and a terrible battle will ensue. In the Final Battle, Sól, the Sun Goddess, and her brother Mani, the Moon God, will be devoured by the two wolves that pursue them through the sky, plunging the worlds into twilight. All will be called forth to fight, even the dead, until finally Surt, the ruler of the fire world Muspelheim, will set the worlds aflame. Then a new world will rise from the ashes.”
